Our Story

Yes. We are THOSE people. The kind that love to plant things, stare at trees and dig in the dirt. We love rocks and moss and flowing water. We harness our love of the outdoors and green things to design home retreats for people so that we can share the smile a fantastic outdoor space brings. Our Vancouver, WA landscape design company and crew has been bringing smiles to people’s faces for over 30 years. Yes, we have won landscape design awards but we don’t do it for the fancy plaque. We do it because we love quality. We want every landscape we create to be a place we would live and spend time in. We want to see it years later and see a quality job that grows more beautiful each year and a customer who loves their yard every time they sit and drink their coffee.

Our Founders

Rick Hooks

CEO

Rick began his first landscaping company, Water’s Edge, in 1997. Water’s Edge reflected Rick’s love of the outdoors — fishing, hiking, looking at trees, and soaking up PNW beauty. His first years as a business, with a wheelbarrow and shovel in his hatchback Toyota, showed him how amazingly fun it is to work with clients to get their dream yards. He enjoys visiting his early work, some now mature 20-year old landscapes, to talk with clients about the years of enjoyment they have had in their yards.

Eric McCuan

COO

Eric started landscaping in 1996 with a high-end landscape company. In 2000, Eric joined Rick at Greenhaven and together they use their talents to create beautiful landscapes and water features. Eric loves the opportunity to be creative. He knows it is a privilege to have clients put their trust in Greenhaven to create beautiful and lasting landscapes and he enjoys meeting the challenges that each yard brings. The outdoors is Eric’s favorite place. He loves hiking, cycling, riding his motorcycle, golfing, and snowboarding. He especially loves spending time with good friends and family.

We Love to Play in Dirt.

We love the outdoor life. Cuddling by the fire, cooking outside, laughing around the patio table, cocooning in blankets while the kids tumble on the lawn. All these things make us smile silly. Yards don’t have to be cookie cutter boring. They should reflect you, your family, and your life. Your yard should be beautiful with every season. Imagine looking out your window every morning and finding your happy place. Amazing, yes?
